Australian Citizens Radio Emergency Monitors Inc. (ACREM) is a volunteer emergency communications group whose primary role is the monitoring of the CB band emergency channels, responding to calls for assistance from the community and relaying the information to the required emergency services.

ACREM members also serve the community through the provision of safety communications for community events such as fun runs, triathlons, etc; first aid services during these events; and communications support or support personnel during disasters and major emergencies.

ACREM is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Public Benevolent Institution and Deductible Gift Recipient (donations or gifts to the value of $2 or more are tax deductible). ACREM receives no form of financial sponsorship and relies heavily on community support and donations to continue helping to save lives.

Emergency Channels

The Australian CB bands include legally allocated emergency channels for use to call for assistance.

Australia has two CB bands in operation:

> The 27MHz or HF band, and
> The UHF band

Although you do not need a licence to use these bands, they are governed by federal legislation which includes the allocation of the emergency channels. These emergency channels are:

On the 27MHz band:
>Channel 9
(on 23 or 40 channel sets);

On the UHF band:
>Channels 5 AND 35

On UHF channel 35 is used as the uplink or input for emergency channel repeater systems so it is vitally important you NEVER use UHF channel 35 to chat!

Emergency Medical Service

The ACREM Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provides first aid and pre-hospital emergency medical services for community events and activities. Our EMS Unit includes volunteers trained to the level of First Responder and endorsed through Emergency Medical Services Australia Pty Ltd (EMSA) to carry and use drugs including Fentanyl and Adrenaline. This allows our EMS Unit to provide more than just a basic first aid service.

Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular, Chocolate Festival and Flavourfest
